Elena Posse de Chaves, PhD

Elena final
I did my undergraduate education in Biochemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Tucumán in Argentina, where I also obtained a PhD in Biochemistry working under the supervision of Dr. Roberto Morero on the role of lipids in protein-induced membrane fusion.
In 1992 I joined the laboratory of Dr. Jean Vance, as a post doctoral fellow first and a research associate later. During these years, working in Jean’s lab in a collaborative project with Dr. Bob Campenot and Dr. Dennis Vance I developed great interest in the nervous system. In 1999 I started my independent career in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Alberta. My research interests lie in the two themes of my scientific life: lipids and the nervous system
